About Jarrod

Meet Jarrod

I’ve lived in Woodstock for over 50 years. I grew up here, raised my kids here, and built my business here. This city has been my home my entire life.

I left school early, but I’ve been self-employed since I was 20 years old. For nearly 25 years, I’ve run Erb Signs. I’ve built my business the simple way — by being honest, reliable, and treating people fairly.

Outside of work, I’ve got a place just outside the city called Odd Duck Ranch. It started as a passion project and slowly turned into something special. Right now it’s home to goats, alpacas, ducks, peacocks, and a few other misfits like me. I’ve spent years planting trees, building trails and a maze, lighting up the forest, and creating a place that I hope one day families and kids can enjoy together.

If there’s one thing I believe in strongly, it’s accountability. I’ve seen what happens when people stop taking responsibility for their actions. Whether it’s business, personal life, or local government, I believe everyone should be held to the same standards. No special treatment. No looking the other way.

I’m not polished, and I’m not pretending to be.

But I care deeply about this city and the people in it. And that’s exactly why I’m stepping forward.

Why I’m running

I’m running for Deputy Mayor because I’m concerned about the direction Woodstock is heading. Like many of you, I love this city. I grew up here, built my business here, raised my kids here, and I want to see Woodstock thrive for future generations.

Over the last few years, I’ve watched decisions get made that left a lot of people feeling unheard. I’ve seen frustration growing in the community, and I believe many residents feel disconnected from City Hall and the decisions being made. I think we can do better.

One of the biggest reasons I decided to step forward is because I strongly believe in accountability. I’ve seen people in positions of authority act like the rules don’t apply to them, and I believe that damages trust. Whether it’s local government, policing, or leadership in general, nobody should be above accountability. The same rules should apply to everyone.

I’m not a career politician. I’m a business owner, a lifelong resident, and someone who genuinely cares about this community. I don’t pretend to have every answer, and I’m not afraid to admit that. What I do believe in is listening, asking questions, bringing people together, and making sure the public has a stronger voice in the decisions affecting their lives.

That’s one of the reasons I chose to run for Deputy Mayor instead of Mayor. This was never about a title or ego for me. I believe Anthony Scalisi would make a strong Mayor, and I believe I can bring value as Deputy Mayor by helping push for accountability, transparency, and stronger public involvement at City Hall.

I want residents to feel like their opinions matter again. For many people, going to City Hall or speaking publicly can feel intimidating. I understand that. I want to help bridge that gap by listening to people directly and making sure their concerns and ideas are heard.

If elected, I’ll work hard, ask difficult questions, admit mistakes when I make them, and always try to do what’s right for the community. I won’t pretend to be perfect, and I won’t act like I know everything. But I will always be honest about where I stand.

Win or lose, I’m proud that I stepped forward. This campaign was never about personal glory for me. It’s about trying to make Woodstock better and encouraging more people to get involved in the future of our city.

Woodstock has given me a lot throughout my life, and this is my way of trying to give something back.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and understand why I’m doing this.

Sincerely,

Jarrod Erb
